1972 Vincati 1200 Hybrid of the famous V-twin Vincent engine in a 750 Ducati frame

This is a very rare motorcycle; one of only eleven known in the world. It is a classic hybrid of the famous V-twin 1200 cc Vincent engine in a mid 1970s excellent-handling 750 Ducati frame, specifically a 1972 Ducati 750GT chassis and a 1200cc Vincent V-twin engine built from new crankcases and coming with a VOC club continuation engine number (F10A/B/121054) and a 5-speed gearbox. Some have described it as “Engine by Shakespeare, chassis by Michelangelo”.

The bike was originally silver and red, and had only been “mocked up” by its previous owner. The motorcycle never started or ran. Classic Motorcycles was able to modify pistons and cylinders, exhaust, and install a starter system, and now she runs. The engine breathes through new 36mm Dellorto carburetors and new Conti mufflers, with a BTH electronic magneto, a McDougalator generator and the option of kickstart or an electric starter. After we knew the bike would start, run and ride, it was taken apart and repainted with gold anodized wheels and black paint. We also custom designed the graphics for the motorcycle. Beautiful, rare beast.

It won the “Spirit of Innovation Award” at the 2016 Quail Motorcycle Gathering in Carmel, California, the Judges Choice Award at the 2016 La Jolla Concours d’Elegance and won the Café/Street Tracker category at the 2016 Clubman’s All British Show in San Jose, California.
