The TR6 Trophy was made by Triumph from 1956 to 1973. The competition version of this Triumph was known as the “desert sled” made famous by Steve McQueen. The TR6 is a 649cc air cooled four-stroke vertical twin with about 42 HP. It has a 4-speed transmission.
This TR6 Trophy was bought at auction pretty much “as is”, but it had a few issues we had to work out for the customer. The throttle and throttle cable were adjusted, levers on the handlebar were adjusted with original British rubber ties. Also, loose wires in the rear fender and on the engine were properly installed. The fuel tank was lowered for proper clearance to the upper triple clamp. A new battery and battery-tender wire were installed. Seat brackets had to be modified and the seat correctly aligned. The front forks were removed, disassembled, re-sealed and re-installed. Other maintenance work was performed and the carburetors adjusted. Just the usual TLC!
