Stage 2— Lake City to Columbus

Saturday, September 6, 2014 — Lake City to Columbus

Stage Two — After a very short, and very wet night, the Cannonball organizers decided that it was too hard for them to ride from Lake City, Florida to Columbus, Georgia in a torrential downpour. Lake City is aptly named. The parking lot looked like a lake when we woke up. With water up to the wheels, crew trucks had to be rescued from the mud. The motorcycles were trailered to the half-way point in Albany, Georgia and the riders started from there. The planned 250 miles was in effect only 150 miles — a good test for Sharon’s repaired bike with undersized pistons.

The day was successful for our team with all four “Team Vino” riders checking in for full points at the end of the day. Below are scenes from the day / stage 2:

One of the vehicles gets pulled from the mud. Oh wait, the tow truck got stuck. Let's call another one.

Despite the organizers best intentions to avoid the heavy rains, you can see in the above photos of Scott Jacobs that he is soaked to the bone.

Lots of attention as Sharon successfully completes her first stage.

The smile of success.
